About North Canterbury Netball Centre

North Canterbury Netball Centre is based in Rangiora and we play netball outdoors at the Dudley Park Netball Courts & indoors at Mainpower Stadium on Coldstream Road.

Our goal is to foster, develop and promote Netball by providing enjoyment and recreation for all participants. 

We have approximately 20 registered clubs who participate in our Winter competition, Junior and Player Development Programmes. 

We provide a Summer Twilight tournament where social teams come together in a round robin social competition and all year round Social Indoor Netball for Mixed and Women's only grades.

OUR HISTORY

​​​​​​​People from Cust, Ashley, Clarkville, Kaiapoi, Waikuku and Woodend Clubs met in the A&P Hall in Rangiora on 10th August 1928 to discuss the formation of a Basketball Association.  Mr P J Newberry, President, ran the meeting and it was agreed an Annual General Meeting would be held in April 1929 for the North Canterbury Basketball Association (NCBA), as netball was called then.

N.C.B.A did not function during the war years.

Primary Competitions started in 1958.

1959 saw the change from 9 a side to 7 aside game.

The first meeting of the North Canterbury Netball Association was held in 1970.
